Ablekuma bullion van attack: Police ‘killers’ remanded

Lance corporal Calystus Amoah was killed, and two people have been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the killing and remanded into police custody.

According to police sources, Benjamin Ojogbe and Rashid Abdul were two of a group of armed robbers who attacked a bullion van at the Ablekuma Fanmilk Star Oil Filling Station, killing a police officer in the process.

One of the robbers was seen moving toward the passenger side of the bullion van and shooting at the police officer, according to CCTV footage of the incident.

Since then, the police have been looking for the other suspects.

The two defendants were arraigned at the Kansehie District Court on Monday, July 3, but their pleas were not taken.

The robbers fled with more than GH145,000, according to the information provided to the court.
