Tarkwa: Severe flooding engulfs Bonsa as river bursts its banks
The town of Tarkwa in the Western Region is currently facing severe flooding as the Bonsa River has exceeded its banks, causing widespread devastation.
The overflowing river has compelled residents to abandon their vehicles, as buildings find themselves surrounded by torrents of water. Nana Esi, a journalist from Space FM, shared with citinewsroom.com that the river had been steadily rising over the past few days, but its imminent overflow was not anticipated until the area experienced three consecutive days of relentless rainfall.
Consequently, the flooding has completely severed Tarkwa’s connection with the Bonsa area, resulting in significant traffic congestion within the township.
The residents of Tarkwa are now grappling with the numerous challenges brought forth by the rising waters.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, local authorities have mobilized to respond to the crisis, coordinating efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected residents.
