Roseate House: India man ‘cons’ five-star Delhi hotel for a two-year free stay
A man in India allegedly managed to avoid paying the bill for nearly two years while residing in a five-star hotel in the capital, Delhi.
After discovering the apparent scam 603 days into the man’s stay, management at the Roseate House near the Delhi airport filed a complaint with police.
According to reports, he owes the hotel over 5 million rupees (£55,000; $75,000).
The man allegedly conspired with staff members to conceal the mounting bills, according to the complaint. No one has not been detained.
Despite the fact that the case was reported to the Delhi police on May 24, the local media has only recently begun to publish details.
According to the Indian Express newspaper, the unidentified man is said to have arrived at the hotel on May 30, 2019, after making a one-night reservation, and he is said to have stayed there until January 22, 2022.
According to the report, one of the employees allegedly kept extending his stay despite the fact that he did not pay.
One method allegedly used to accomplish this involved switching one bill for another or messing with the bills of other guests.
There have been no names given.
“As per hotel rules, if a guest owes more than 50,000 rupees to the hotel, the staff has to inform the seniors and push the guest for payment. However, this was not done,” according to a senior police officer.
