12 Inmates of Sekondi Central Prison Set Free After Nhyiraba Kojo Settle Their Court Fines

Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur, Nhyiraba Kojo has settled the court fines of 12 inmates of the Sekondi Central Prison in the Western Region.

This move he said is in fulfillment of a promise he made to the inmates after his first-hand experience in the Sekondi prisons.

Nhyiraba Kojo was jailed some weeks back due to contempt of court after failing to comply with a court order.

” I’m here with my brothers. I promised them when I come out from Sekondi Prison, I will make sure they also come out. At least not all of them but these 12 people.
I thank God I’m witnessing this day.

I was keen on doing this,” Nhyiraba Kojo said.

He disclosed, that there would be some form of support for the inmates, to help them live a comfortable life.

‘”I have told them not to do things that will bring them back to the prison. We will take them home, and give them some clothing.

We will then do follow-up and if there is any support we can offer them regarding work or anything, we will do it. It won’t end here.

We had to go to the court and pay the fine of each of them,” He added.

Some of the inmates speaking to Beach Newsroom expressed gratitude to Nhyiraba Kojo and urged others to emulate the gesture.

They also appealed to the government to increase their feeding fee of 1.80 pesewas as it amounts to nothing.
