Three children die in burning bus transporting fuel in Ashanti Region
In a tragic incident in Huu, Amansie Central District of Ashanti, three children lost their lives in a devastating fire when a commercial vehicle carrying fuel for sale caught fire.
The children, aged 5, 6, and 7, were unable to escape and were burned to death, while a fourth child who sustained injuries is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The vehicle involved was a 207 Mercedes Benz Bus, which was transporting diesel and petrol to Edwenase in the same district. There were passengers on board at the time of the incident. The three children who tragically lost their lives were among twelve pupils who had been on their way home to Edwenase after their school bus experienced a mechanical problem. The teacher accompanying the students requested assistance from the bus driver to transport the children home.
However, during the journey, the bus caught fire, resulting in the horrifying death of the three children, whose bodies were burned beyond recognition. Fortunately, other occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, were able to escape with their lives.
The fire also caused additional destruction in the vicinity. Telecom masts, commercial shops, and motorbikes located near the scene of the incident were consumed by the flames.
