Journalists Recieve Training On Post SEED Launch In Takoradi
The Acting Area Manager of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust, SSNIT in Takoradi, Gloria Turkson has urged members in both the formal and informal sector to get enrolled on the Scheme.
At a one-day training on Self Employed Enrolment Drive (SEED), she mentioned that irrespective of one’s employment status, one can contribute to the Scheme.
” The SSNIT scheme is open to every worker, whether you work for someone, and receive income or you’re doing your own business, whether you’re in the formal or informal sector, the Scheme is open to you,” She said.
She further says, a person can register and contribute and receive a pension like any member of the Scheme.
She added that self-employed persons can contribute to the Scheme to have the opportunity of earning pensions if they meet the qualifying requirement.
Madam Gloria Turkson thus assured contributors of their pensions went they retire or become invalid.
As part of the training, participants were encouraged to engage in meaningful discussions, share insights and challenges, as well as use their various platforms to educate people on the importance of enrolling on the Scheme.
The training was aimed at deepening understanding of the importance of SEED to every self-employed person in Ghana. The initiative launched in Kumasi last Wednesday, seeks to fulfil the mandate of SSNIT to extend pension coverage to all workers, including the self-employed.
