I Will Restore Water Bodies Back To Their Natural State When Appointed Minister For Water Bodies – Chief of Bibiani
Chief of Bibiani in the Western North Region of Ghana Nana Ngoah Anyima Kodom II has called on the government to appoint him as ‘Water Bodies Minister’ to help restore our water bodies to their natural state.
According to him galamsey and destruction of water started around 1984 in the era of the Late President JJ Rawlings as he made an attempt to curb it but all efforts failed.
He observed that the situation has been the same to date, so the government should give powers to the traditional leaders especially himself as water bodies minister and within two weeks the water bodies will be clean.
Nana Ngoah Anyimah Kodok II in an interview with Kwame Offie on Spice 91.9 FM, stated that it’s time the constitution of the National House of Chiefs undergo some form of an amendment to fight against galamsey.
” However, a sub-chief may have the wisdom to help fight galamsey. Also, Chiefs should be allowed to vote. My reason being that the National House of Chiefs must be expanded and also be the second chamber of the country,” He said.
He mentioned that Ghana has many helicopters in Accra, so he would need four of them to patrol through the galamsey-prone area including the military and all needed equipment to deal with it by alerting everyone to withdraw their machines from the forest and the water bodies and failure to comply would cause the destruction of all your machines.
