Speaker Bagbin Says Democracy Is The Rule Of Law And Not Rule By Law

The objective of democracy should be the rule of law, not the rule by law, according to Rt. Hon. Alban S.K. Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament.

Fairness and justice are the foundation of the rule of law, which must be centred on the represented people’s needs and aspirations.

Mr Speaker contends that all choices taken by the government of Ghana must be in the best interests of the people. In light of this understanding, the Legislature’s goal must be to enhance the value and significance of all intercessions made for the benefit of Ghanaians.

He was speaking when the Russian Ambassador, H. E. Sergei Berdnikov, paid him a courtesy visit at Parliament House in Accra.

His visit was meant to look for ways to strengthen ties between the Russian and Ghanaian legislatures.

The Russian Ambassador’s tenacity and drive to improve bilateral ties were praised by Mr. Speaker.

He continued by saying that it was important to develop and promote additional opportunities for strategic alliances.

Mr. Bagbin thinks that new partnerships in the fields of energy, trade, education, and capacity-building for lawmakers can be established.

He pushed for the revival and expansion of the Ghana-Russia Friendship Association in order to foster interactions that will increase economic prosperity and job possibilities for people in both nations while also supporting Ghana’s atomic energy sector.
