WhatsApp to allow users edit messages within 15 minutes
In a move that will see WhatsApp match a feature provided by competitors like Telegram and Signal, the firm says it will allow users to edit messages.
According to the WhatsApp, messages may be edited up to 15 minutes after being sent.
The US technology giant Meta, which also owns Facebook and Instagram, includes the instant messaging service in its portfolio.
Within a few weeks, the 2 billion users of WhatsApp will be able to access the feature.
“From correcting a simple misspelling to adding extra context to a message, we’re excited to bring you more control over your chats,” the messaging service said in a blog post.
“All you need to do is long-press on a sent message and choose ‘Edit’ from the menu for up to fifteen minutes after,” it added.
Edited messages will be identified as such, letting recipients know that the content has been changed.
They will not, however, be informed of the changes made to the message over time.
After messaging platforms Telegram and Signal made the feature available, WhatsApp also made its announcement of the feature.
Social media platform Facebook, first made the edit feature available almost a decade ago.
