In the ongoing by-election in the Kumawu constituency, Nurudeen Hamidan, an executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has cautioned all party agents not to sign pink sheets till voting is complete.
The NDC claimed it had found several pink sheets being used for the elections already signed while voting was still going on, thus Mr. Hamidan issued the warning to his party’s agents.
In a media interview, Mr. Hamidan, who is also a former Asokore Mampong chief executive, urged the electoral commission to make sure that no pink sheet that has already been signed is utilized in the election.
Officials of the Electoral Commission have since changed the signed pink sheet, and the NDC has changed some of its agents at various polling places.
He continued by saying that the NDC would do everything in its power to prevent a rigged election on Tuesday in favor of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
A by-election is being held by the EC in the Kumawu constituency as a result of Philip Basoah’s passing in March of this year.
Both of the two major political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in power, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in opposition, have made repeated attempts to seize the parliamentary seat.
All required materials are prepared for the by-election, according to the EC that is organizing it.
The parliamentary candidates include: Akwasi Amankwaa popularly known as ‘Tom Cee’, of NDC, NPP’s Ernest Yaw Anim, and two other independent candidates both with the same name, Kwaku Duah.
