Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana’s finance minister, has said that the country shouldn’t focus on the past and instead acknowledge the progress being made.
He claims that the government is prepared for that, and the country is unquestionably moving toward both economic recovery and revitalization.
“Indeed, I think we have to move ahead, and as the good book says, we should forget the former things, we should not dwell on the past and see that new things are being done, and we are ready for that.”
At a recent news conference hosted by the International Monetary Fund, Ken Ofori-Atta stated that the government will assist the Fund in achieving the program’s intended goals.
“Greater things are ahead. We know Ghana can achieve it. We’ve been through this before, and we are ready to ensure that we set a pace that others can also follow.”
The Finance Minister also recognized the crucial role played by the nation’s bilateral partners, particularly the G20 members, Common Framework, Paris Club, and G7 members as well as the support provided by India, Saudi Arabia, China, and Turkey. He described these nations as having been absolutely tremendous in helping Ghana achieve its goals.
“The financial assurances that were delivered last Friday, May 12, 2023, were instrumental in securing yesterday’s Board approval; and we, truly, do thank all of them for that.
“Clearly, it’s also a signal that a common framework can be made to work and we look forward to just following through”, he added.
