The Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Dr Mohammed Amin Adams, has mentioned that the 3bilion IMF bailout would be judiciously used to scale up the country’s development.
He emphasized that the funds will go into education, health, and social infrastructure with an eye on pro-poor policies like Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty, LEAP, school feeding, and free education.
According to Dr Amin Adams, the government has comprehensive plans for the first tranche of Six Hundred Million dollars coming in, adding that there is no way the IMF program will worsen the plight of the poor as others are speculating.
Dr Amin Adams noted that the IMF support will also be used to back the macro fundamentals and shore up the cedi to enable the Ghanaian currency to stand on its feet.
