GRNMA Calls For Better Conditions Of Service For Nurses

International Nurses Day, is an international day celebrated around the world on May 12 annually to mark the contributions nurses make to society.

This year’s celebration is Christened, ” Our Nurses, Our Future.”

Sampson Yalley, Western Regional Chairman of The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, GRNMA, in an interview with Beach Newsroom, described the nursing profession as a noble profession that is likened to nature, which is the reason the majority of young people draw inspiration to join the profession.

He reveals that the profession does not pay much as expected.

He observed that the government has not made enough investments in nurses and midwives as could be seen in other professions.

Mr Sampson Yalley further appealed to the authorities to improve the standard of living of health workers, especially nurses.

He opined that nurses should receive the needed investment to equip them to cater for the health needs of the citizenry.

” Government of the day should ensure that nurses are recognised and are given their due place as far as health delivery is concerned,” He said.
