Stonebwoy made the statement during his lastest interview, in which he discussed his recent album release, “5th Dimension Album”, and his experiences in the music industry.
The artiste, who has won several awards in his career, including four consecutive Reggae/Dancehall Artist of the Year titles at the VGMAs from 2015 to 2018, stated that he still believed that he should have been named the Artist of the Year in 2019.
In 2019, Stonebwoy was involved in an altercation with fellow artiste Shatta Wale at the VGMAs, which led to a temporary ban for both artistes from the event. That year, the Artist of the Year award was won by singer-songwriter, Diana Hamilton.

Stonebwoy emphasized that he has no qualms with Hamilton winning the award, but maintains that he deserved the recognition due to his hard work and contributions to the music industry in Ghana.
He expressed optimism that one day, he will be handed the 2019 Artist of the Year award, either officially or unofficially, and that his fans and supporters would celebrate the recognition with him.
Stonebwoy’s comments have sparked discussions on social media, with some fans expressing their agreement with his viewpoint, while others believe that he should focus on his future achievements instead of dwelling on past events.
