Inflation Rate For April 2023 Drops To 41.2%

Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Annim has announced that the inflation rate for the month of April 2023 has recorded at 41.2 per cent relative to March 2023 at a rate of 45.0 per cent.

The Ghana Statistical Service said on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, that the month-on-month inflation rate between March and April 2023 was 2.4 per cent.

Professor Annim attributed the changes to the general price level being 52.8% higher in the month of February 2023 than in the same period in 2022.

Food inflation has dropped to 48.8 per cent with 50.8 per cent for January 2023.

Inflation for locally produced items was 38.2 per cent while that for imported items was 43.1 per cent.

The Government Statistician also disclosed that the non-food inflation stood at the same rate as the previous month at 40.percent. The month-on-month non-food inflation was 0.7per cent.

The Western North Region had the highest inflation record of 64.0% whilst the Volta region maintained the record of having the lowest regional inflation of 28.0%
