John Kumah, the Deputy Finance Minister, has passed away
John Kumah, the Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, has tragically passed away after a brief illness, as confirmed by sources close to his family.
He was 45 years old and is survived by his wife and six children.
Known affectionately by his constituents as Lawyer John Kumah, he was hailed for his integrity and dedication to fostering job creation and inspiring hope across generations in Ejisu, located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Prior to his political career, John Kumah was the founding Managing Director of Majak Associates Ltd, a prominent building and construction firm with projects spanning across Ghana.
Later, he established the Aduaprokye Chambers upon becoming a lawyer, serving as its Managing Partner before being appointed as CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) in 2017.
During his tenure at NEIP, he spearheaded the training of 45,000 start-ups over three years through the Presidential Business Support Programme, facilitating the creation of numerous job opportunities for the youth nationwide.
With over 17 years of consistent leadership experience, John Kumah demonstrated remarkable creativity, innovation, and resourcefulness in advancing job creation, entrepreneurship, and youth development initiatives.
His dedication to public service earned him accolades, including being recognized as the most Efficient and Prominent Government Appointee in 2018, as well as being listed among President Akufo Addo’s top 20 Most Humble and Respectful Appointees in 2019.
A steadfast member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Kumah diligently served the party since 1992, playing pivotal roles such as founding the Young Patriots, a youth political activist group within the NPP, and contributing to the party’s Communication Team.
In line with his commitment to his constituents in Ejisu, John Kumah successfully secured substantial funding to implement various infrastructure and job creation projects within the constituency.
