Redevelopment Works At Effia Nkwanta Hospital Not Stalled
The Medical Director of Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr Joseph Tambil has debunked rumours that redevelopment works at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, ENRH has halted due to the government’s IMF bailout.
Speaking to the media, Dr Tambil mentioned that redevelopment works at the facility are ongoing as work has not stalled.
According to him, the foundations are almost completed and also the demolition of the old structures is completed.
” To the best of my knowledge work hasn’t stalled at all work is still going on the full scheme. Yes, there are concerns that maybe with what is going to with on in the economic realm, lenders may chicken out. So far there’s no evidence of that. Work is still going on.
The foundation is almost done, the demolition of old structures is completed, the movement of staff from those old areas is complete and the foundation is almost done. There is no causeĀ forĀ alarm,” He said.
The Effia Nwanta Hospital is currently undergoing redevelopment to make it the centre of excellence in health delivery in the Western Region.
The project will include a clinical support service unit, renovation of the catering building, and administration block, and renovation of the exterior facade of the maternity and theatre blocks to allow modern operations of the facility.
He further mentions that the hospital also operates an Intensive Care Unit, ICU service which runs fully.
Commenting on managing the facility, he noted that management prioritizes care for some conditions while blocking loopholes that make their financial conditions worse.
He further says they expect payment of outstanding NHIS arrears in the weeks ahead.
