Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital Receives Anti-malarial Drugs From Bliss GVS

Bliss GVS, a pharmaceutical company has donated antimalarial medications to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, ENRH as part of the drive to fight against malaria infections.

This move forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the country.

Figures from the World Health Organisation show that there are over 600,000 malaria deaths globally in 2021 as compared to 625,000 in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2019, before the pandemic struck, the number of deaths stood at 568,000.

Some of the antimalarial drugs presented include LONART, P-ALAXIN, and GSUNATE for the treatment of malaria. This would also improve the availability and accessibility of antimalarial drugs in the region.

A Medical Representative of BLISS GVS, David Deladem Tettey mentioned that the donations are worth 100,000 cedis, adding that the country still battles against malaria, and the company is committed to supporting the government’s drive to make this country malaria-free.

This he noted falls under the campaign Artemisinin-based Combination Therapy (ACT) for Africa.

” We have been trying so much to try and render Ghana, a malaria-free country, as part of the main project to render Africa as a whole as a malaria-free continent. Malaria is not a one-time eradication project we can do at go. So we have been trying with our massive efforts to hit hard at malaria so that Ghana will be free from malaria” He stated.

Receiving the donations on behalf of the hospital, the Medical Director of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr Kojo Tambil was grateful for the gesture by Bliss GVS.

He stated that the donation is a critical one as the bedrock of medical care is medications.

” Malaria is one of the biggest causes of death in this part of the world, and so getting the medications to treat malaria is of extreme importance. So the donation is a critical one and we are grateful to BLISS GVS for this donation,” Dr Tambil said.
