Auditor General Expresses Optimistic Of This Year’s Report

The Controller and Accountant General Department, says for the first time, in a long while the Department’s Annual Bank balance has been reconciled.

This came to light when the Department presented its yearly report to the Auditor General’s Department.

Controller and Accountant General Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem presented the report on the financial statement that said his office was working hard towards the development of the country.

” Once again for 2022, we are done with the account. The interesting thing about 2022 accounts is that we have moved the numbers of SOEs included in the previous years from 47 to 62.

Now we have included more SOEs to enrich the account, we have also started gathering government legacy fix assets and this time round the numbers we got have included 15 per cent for the year 2022, and we believe that by the end of 2023, we would have covered up to a minimum of 75 per cent so these are the areas that we enriched the report.

We have also covered all the 261 MMDAs in the report and the central government account have fully been covered,” He explained.

The Director General, Auditor General Department, Johnson Akuamoah Aseidu remarked that this year’s Auditor General’s report will be different as it will separate the real financial misappropriation from the administration irregularities.

He was optimistic that the initiative will help reduce the yearly public outcry on the Auditor General’s report.
