Managing Director of ECG, Samuel Dubike Mahama has justified the increase of the minimum quota power purchase by individual third-party vendors.
According to Mr Mahama, the move is to reduce the volume of daily transactions by individual vendors as it disrupts the Company’s network.
On March 1, 2023, ECG increased its minimum quota purchase per meter type from 5,000 to 20,000 cedis.
The adjustment was protested by the vendors and called for a review.
He said in a media engagement, ” When you are a third-party vendor you are a bulk purchaser, you are supposed to purchase in bulk and sell to customers. People complain about the ECG network, why the network is bad, why the network is slow. Even, if we have to work on the network, the network is slow. By the time the day has ended the third-party vendor has hit the ECG network more than ten times because of the 5,000 thresholds,” He said.
Mr Dubike Mahama says, there’s a conversation about a super vendor who will purchase in bulk and can deal with vendors at 5,000 cedis and below.
