Ghana’s Richard Commey suffers TKO defeat against Jose Ramirez
Ghanaian boxer Richard Commey’s hopes of becoming a two time world champion has suffered a major set back after he lost his championship eliminator bout with Jose Ramirez.
Ramirez who is a former unified champion in the Super lightweight division dropped Commey twice in the eleventh round, the second of which Commey failed to recover from after a full count to 10.
This result means that Commey has now won just one of his last 5 fights which include defeats to Vasyl Lomachenko, Teofimo Lopez and a split draw against Jose Pedraza.
Commey who had been in camp for about four months prior to the bout engaged in an exchange of punches with Ramirez who was a heavy favourite coming into the bout in the early stages.
Ramirez showed patience and gradually established his dominance in the bout as it progressed.
Before the bout he spoke about establishing his dominance against his opponent after a long absence from the ring and delivered on his word.
