Allow Muslim Students to Participate In Ramadan Fast – Heads Of Schools Urged
As Muslims begin their Ramadan fast today, March 23, 2023, non-Muslims are encouraged to support faithful Muslims.
In a statement in Parliament, the Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Murtala Mohammed appealed to heads of schools to allow Muslim students to participate in the holy month.
According to him, Ghana demonstrates excellent qualities in respect of religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
He cited that the 1992 constitution frowns upon religious discrimination.
“Ghana has demonstrated excellent qualities in respect of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence. The major religions in this country have cooperated peacefully with each other with very minimal difficulty.
The 1992 constitution, Right Honorable Speaker frowns upon religious discrimination and provides for individual freedom to manifest and practice their religion without difficulty.
It is against this background, Right Honourable Speaker that I make a clarion call on various heads of academic institutions especially our second cycle institutions to continue to be tolerant and create a good atmosphere for young Muslim students to safely observe this year’s Ramadan without any form of glitches or disturbances.,” He said.
