Public Share Want Makes Them Happy As World Marked International Happiness Day

International Day of Happiness may sound a bit infantile because perceptions of happiness may differ from one person to the next.

However, the ultimate goal of the movement which was introduced by the United Nations and its partner nonprofit group, Action for Happiness, is to spread awareness that progress is not only about increasing bottom lines and encouraging economic growth, but well-being and human happiness as well.

In 2011, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution that made it a “fundamental human goal” to give happiness as much priority as an economic opportunity.

Two years later, in 2013, all 193 member states of the UN celebrated the world’s first International Day of Happiness, and it has continued to grow since.

Some residents in Sekondi-Takoradi sharing with Beach Newsroom say food, money, and others make them happy.

So instead of being in a neutral state, take a minute this March 20th on International Day of Happiness to consider what truly makes you happy, and how you can pursue it.
