The Electricity of Ghana, ECG will today, March 20 embark on a massive disconnection exercise as part of efforts to mobilise revenue.
The exercise will last until April 20th and will use almost all ECG staff from top management to junior officers to retrieve all the monies owed to the company.
Western Regional Public Relations Officer Benjamin Quarcoo mentioned in an interview with Business Daily that the exercise would also check for illegalities or tampering with ECG meters.
“This exercise is an intensification of our regular revenues mobilization activity. This time around all members of staff will be joining our regular mobilisation team to visit our customers both postpaid and prepaid to ensure that those owing us pay what they owe us, and also check the integrity of the meters that we have with our prepaid customers so that those who engage in illegalities, as in the use of power will also be held accountable for their actions. “
Mr Quarcoe revealed that the exercise has so far been successful, and encouraged customers to pay their debt to avoid disconnection.
