Ghanaians Share Expectations Ahead Of President’s Delivery Of SONA

The President, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo is scheduled to present the State Of the Nation’s Address in Parliament on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

The address is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution which mandates the President to update Parliament on its key policies which cover the economic, social, and financial state of the country.

Ahead of this day, Beach Newsroom sampled the views of some residents in the Metropolis on what they expect from the President’s delivery.

Mr Koomson, a public sector worker pointed out that Ghanaians are paying more taxes for goods and services which doesn’t correlate with their salaries. This according to him makes living difficult.

He thus called on the government to remove or reduce the numerous taxes, and if possible ensure the reduction of fuel products to make life easier for Ghanaians

” I am not expecting much though but the little I’m expecting to hear from the government is that they will put down some strategies that will bring the economic hardship down, especially with fuel prices. Most of the economic hardship is based on increases in fuel prices.
The government can do something that can subsidise the increment in fuel.

I again expect the government to increase the pay of government workers because the salaries are not meeting our needs. There are increases in fuel prices, food, etc. It’s either they do something about the salaries of workers or reduce the taxes,”

Another resident mentioned that the President has not been able to live up to expectations as most of the promises made have not been fulfilled.

He is of the view that the President should resign from his position since he has failed in his promises and rather made life unbearable for Ghanaians.

He said, “We have given him enough time for him and his crooners to turn things around, but things are getting worse. I am pleading with him, he should just resign because we Ghanaians will pay his ex-gratia. We are tired of his numerous promises, things are getting worse.”
