It’s that time of the year where the most anticipated awards show, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards organized by Charter House is held. One category that serves as the platform for catapulting immensely talented artistes from obscurity to popularity is the Unsung category.
The nominees in this category are totally recommended by the general public through social media. This year, Sekondi-Takoradi would want to use this category to catapult one of its own and we seek to introduce you to our various artistes that deserve this opportunity to properly sell themselves.
The first artist we would like to introduce is Spooky the Maniac. If you have heard the Twitter Spaces theme song, then you probably have been introduced to his genius. Gabriel Ohene Kwasi Addai popularly known as Spooky the maniac is the first of two children born to Mr. George Addai and the late Ms. Veronica Aikins.
His love for music started at a very young age given the fact that his father was a choir master and his mother was the alto part leader in the church choir. He was the poster boy for rap excellence in Fijai SHS and he was likened to Sarkodie.
He built the record label (Well Motivated Team Records) with his friend AtmBTZ. They are both currently under the employment of Digital mercenaries.
Spooky is a multitalented artiste with the ability to sing, rap, and write music.
Spooky the maniac in an interview with Macall the host of Compound House, gave reasons why he should be considered for the VGMA Unsung Award category.
He stated that being nominated would be an honor for him and the region at large. He said the nomination would serve as a medium to introduce his rebranding to a larger audience.
He also said he has put in the work to be considered as a potential and cannot wait to be given a chance to leverage the opportunities winning this category would bring and he is not fazed about the fact that he doesn’t have a hit song like past winners.
He encouraged people to choose him because he is the embodiment of good music and also has a vision on where his brand is going and how impactful he wants to be through music.
