Residents Of Gwira -Kutukrom Bewails Poor State Of Road System Affecting Economic Activities
The impact of bad roads is being felt by many Ghanaians in both larger and smaller communities. Government is always called upon to provide solutions to these road infrastructural deficits.
The situation is not different as residents of Gwira-Kutukrom, a community within the Nzema East District of the Western Region are lamenting over the appalling state of roads they ply their trade on.
The roads which link major routes to business centers of the district have deteriorated making it impossible for residents to access essential services such as health care.
The situation, according to them is severe, especially during the rainy season which affects economic activities in the area.
Kyidomhene Nana Kutu Acheampong III speaking on the issue says, government should make it a priority to repair the road or they boycott election processes come 2024.
He also called for the creation of a new district for Gwira to aid the development of the communities.
“The road from Bondie to Nsawam -Bibiani and Wiawso needs urgent attention. I believe we are also part of Ghana. We are currently contributing to having the road fixed.
Gwira-Kutukrom contributes its quota to national development. Our plea to the government is to create a district for residents of Gwira so that development can be felt here. Our roads are in a mess despite our contributions.
If our issues are not addressed, we don’t want to see any ballot boxes or papers here on the day of the elections,” He stated.
