Ghanaian musician Castro, whose real name is Theophilus Tagoe, disappeared on July 6, 2014, under mysterious circumstances while on a holiday with friends at Ada Beach Resort in Ghana’s Greater Accra Region.

Castro was a popular highlife and hiplife artist in Ghana, known for his hit songs such as “Seihor,” “Toffee,” and “Odo Pa.” He had also collaborated with other Ghanaian artists such as Sarkodie and Asamoah Gyan.

On the day of his disappearance, Castro and a female friend, Janet Bandu, had gone jet skiing in the Volta River estuary. According to reports, the jet ski malfunctioned, and Castro and Bandu were thrown into the water. While Castro’s friend managed to swim to safety, Castro was nowhere to be found.

A search party was immediately launched to find Castro, but despite the efforts of the police and the Ghana Navy, no trace of him was found. The search was eventually called off after four days, and Castro was declared missing and presumed dead.

The disappearance of Castro shocked Ghana and the music industry. Many of his fans and colleagues refused to believe that he was dead and held out hope that he would be found alive. There were also various conspiracy theories about his disappearance, with some speculating that he had faked his own death and was living in hiding.

Despite the lack of concrete evidence, the Ghanaian police maintained that Castro had drowned and that his body had been swept away by the tide. In the years since his disappearance, there have been sporadic reports of sightings of Castro in different parts of Ghana, but none of these have been confirmed.

Castro’s disappearance has had a lasting impact on the Ghanaian music industry. He was regarded as one of the most talented and innovative artists in the country, and his absence has left a void that has yet to be filled. His music continues to be played and celebrated in Ghana and beyond, and his fans continue to mourn his loss and hope for closure.
