The Assembly Member of Anaji West has apologized to the Anaji community for lack of consultation before the construction of the proposed Sports and Commercial Complex which has generated lots of controversies within the community.

This development came up last two weeks ago, when the youth in the community blocked a contractor of a private developer, shellyco Petroleum Limited who had begun to assemble materials(sands) on the park for commencement of the project.

This did not go down well with the youth who felt they have been short chained since they had no idea about the project.

Speaking to Spice News in an exclusive interview, John Davis apologized to the community for the delay in consultation due to a hitch and called for support since the project is expected to change the face of the community.

”The process towards the consultation had started long ago around  December where I met some youth and  told them that there was going to be a bigger meeting after the holidays, so that the community engagement could be done  but coincidentally as we were in the process the contractor found his way  to  site which brought all the bruhaha, so as a community leader, I will say an apology to the residents of Anaji for that hitch”.

He also urged the community to appreciate the positive side  of the project which will serve as a catalyst for growth since the project is in the interest of the people.

”Whatever we are doing, it is for the interest of the community, for now some people may not appreciate it but I think it’s a laudable project that will change the face of Anaji, all must come on board to ensure successful execution of the project, the assembly does not have the capacity to build such a project”.

According to the Assembly there were three major conditions stipulated in the agreement between the parties of the project. These included ensuring community accessibility to the project, effective assembly participation to ensure that project proposal is adhered to the later and finally, community engagement.

In the just ended community engagement among the residents of Anaji, there were the following agreements among the residents as shared by organizing secretary of New Effia Anaji Low-Cost Housing Association, Evangelist David Akoful;
