Ghana is set to hold the first Assembly of the African Investment Promotion Agencies in Accra on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
This maiden summit will focus on the role of Investment Promotions Agencies (IPAs) and facilitating and boosting intra-African trade.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotions Centre, (GIPC) Yoofi Grant at the Minster’s Press Briefing in Accra said by 2050, Africa will be a quarter of the global and the continent needs to look inward on how it can promote intra-African trade.
He said Africa needs to redefine its approach toward outward investor partners.
He said, there would be further discussions on the emerging opportunities that the AfCFTA continues to present and how various actors can leverage on them to facilitate trade on the continent and boost socio-economic development.
There are currently about 48 African Investment Promotion Agencies, and the Annual Assembly of Investment Promotion Agencies will serve as the official gathering for African IPAs to engage in discussions, exchanges, and knowledge sharing on policies, interventions, current trends in FDI, best practices on investment promotion, the AfCFTA, among other topics.
