Round 6 Of The COVID -19 Vaccination Begins On January 20

The 6th Round of the COVID-19 Immunization Exercise is to begin on Friday, January 20 to Tuesday, January 24 within the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly.

This is to help in achieving a herd of immunity towards the COVID-19 vaccination.

According to the EKMA health Directorate, there has been challenges confronting the previous exercise with some of the officials being barred from entering gated homes.

Public Health Nurse at the Directorate, Madam Charlotte Baffour Awuah contends that out of the One Hundred and Eighty One Thousand, Six hundred and Eighteen only One Hundred and Thirty Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Five have received the vaccine.

Of this figure, 74, 863 have received the first dose of vaccine representing a 57.3 percent while 44,885 representing 34.0 percent of persons have received the second dose.

13, 375 which is made up of 10 percent of the population who have received the third dose. Vaccination will be given to all eligible persons 15 years and above including pregnant women and lactating mothers.

She therefore is advising the public to report any side effects of the vaccine to the nearest public health center.

Madam Baffour Awuah is also appealing to members of the public to avail themselves and get vaccinated.
