Chief of Yabiw who is also the Acting President of the Shama Traditional Council, Nana Kwamina Wienu II, has called on the government to fix the deplorable road as well renovate the only health centre in the community.
Addressing the Regional Minister and his entourage during a courtesy call at his Palace, he stated the district has nothing to show for in terms of development even though President Akuffo promised to help repair their road network and upgrade the health center After two years, he recalls, no work has been done.
He expressed disappointment at the low development witnessed in the district and implored on the Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah to tackle the problem.
He stated that the upgrading and fixing of their road is a basic necessity for the community.
“We are requesting some basic stuff for the community. A hospital and good road are what we need to enhance good health care and proper transportation systems. We were instructed to demolish the current hospital, if we have gone through with that we would have no health facility as of now.
I’m excited that Regional Minister used the road and can attest to the bad condition it’s in. Our request is not limited to Yabiw but linking communities,” He said.
Nana Kwamina Wienu II called on politicians to stick promises they make.
The Regional Minister in his response stated that the district hasn’t been neglected but the road contractors employed have not been up to the task, and has directed the Assembly to find a reliable contractor to begin work.
Touching on the hospital, he mentions that there’s been some technical challenges with the insurance providers, and they are working to acquire new insurance providers.
