30 Percent Base Pay Increment For Public Sector Workers To Begin January 2023

Organised Labour And Government have reached an agreement of 30 percent for 2023.

The payment is to take effect this month.

By this agreement, the 15 percent COLA has been ceased.

Minister of Employment and Labour Relations Ignatius Baffour Awuah hopes the increase in the base pay will motivate workers to give off their best to sustain the economy.

“We want to entreat the Controller and Accountant General Department, the paymaster of government workers, to start effecting this in the January 2023 salary pay. We want to assure Ghanaian workers that the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, is committed to the well-being of all Ghanaian workers and will go to extra lengths at least to make sure that every worker gets that which he or she deserves and as a way of motivating the person to do their best.” He stated.

For his part, Finance Minister, Ofori Atta acknowledged that the increment of base pay will have a great impact on the 2023 budget but was hopeful it will boost productivity.so

“This is going to take a toll on the budget but I’m confident that it will enhance productivity and the commitment that we both have given to each other to make sure that there’s peace in this country as we look at pension issues and labour issues,” He said.
