New Takoradi: Kofi Kinaata Renovates 4 Toilet Facility of Queen Beatrix Catholic KG
Queen Beatrix Catholic KG, a basic school located in New Takoradi, a town in the Western Region of Ghana has completed its renovation of the school’s washroom facility after successfully solliciting for and receiving funds to renovate the washroom as it was previously in a poor state.
According to the assistant headmistress,
Madam Bernice Thompson, Queen Beatrix Catholic KG received support form one of Ghana’s popular musician and songwriter from Takoradi, Kofi Kinaata and his team, TeamMoove, to lay grounds for the elementary school to have a good sanitary facility for the students, which began construction through to completion during the school’s just ended vacation period last year.
“Our friend Kofi Kinaata and his team, TeamMoove supported us in renovating it and we did that during the vacation and since school reopened today they promised to come and inspect the work so that the children can use it. We are very grateful for this gesture”, the assistant headmistress said.
Ghana statistics show that there are no sanitation facilities in more than 40% of Ghana’s elementary schools and in a few instances when the facilities do exist, they are discovered to be in appalling condition.
A lack of access to adequate sanitary facilities constitutes a significant barrier to education. Many illnesses and parasites, including diarrhea, can be prevented by using toilets and appropriate washing facilities, therefore provision of sustainable clean toilet facilities in schools is crucial for good health and well-being of school children.
Upon inspection of the sanitary facility, a representative for TeamMoove, Gloria Addo Yeboah stated how impressed she was considering that the funds had been put to good use.
” I realized that whatever funds that was given to them was put to use. It has been completely renovated. Now they have 4 new washrooms and i pray that the team will be able to do more for schools to support their services rendering to these kids in the new Takoradi metropolis”, she said.
