MLGWUI-FFMRC APPLAUDS Ghanaian- German Centre for Jobs Migration and Reintegration

The Migrant Labour General Workers’ Union International with her education department Finnish-French Migrant Resource Centre (MLGWUI-FFMRC) applauds the Ghanaian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration (GGC) for its continuous support to African Return Migrant Workers and Internal Potential Migrants on psychological, conselling, skills training and education on migration that has changed many Return Migrant Workers’ lives in labour migration and made some of them become entrepreneurs and employers.

The General Secretary and Head of Education International Relations of the union, Comrade Justice Baako Ntarmah made this applaud during the 2023 first quarterly evaluation of previous challenges faced the union and its members before the intervention support of the Ghanaian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration for African Migrant Workers and Potential Migrants. This Meeting which also served as an Orientation of new Regional Leaders of the union and Beneficiaries of GGC held at Accra Mall Ghana on the Saturday January 7, 2023.

The agenda of the Meeting including Strategy Plan to Seek Funding Support for Africa and Diaspora Membership Organising and Education Drive (Activities); New Office Space Renting as the International Secretariat in Accra Ghana; Promoting Entrepreneurial Skills Training in Labour Migration;
Encouraging Women Migrant Workers Inclusive in Trade Unionism Education and Gender in Labour Migration; 2022 International Migrants Day Commemoration Organised by GIZ-GGC on Migration Solution 360 Fair and its Positive Impact of Migrant Entrepreneurs Exhibitors; Helping/Referring Returning Migrants about Employment, Accommodation and/or Skills Training Coaching; Developing New Website for the Union; Building Strong Collaboration with Public Institutions, Local and International Organisations; Funds for International Quandriennial Delegates Conference in 2023 in Ghana Prior to IMD.

In responses to members questions on financial challenge faces the union, the Deputy General Secretary of the union Comrade Okrah Kwame Benson who served as the Meeting Secretary read number 23 of the 2022 IMD Statement of the union to members repeatedly where retrospectively captured the “Appeal” of the union to the Diaspora Affairs of Presidency and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Reintegration respectively to support the activities of the union.

In his closing remarks on behalf of the Presiding Chairman, who left the Meeting on emergency call, Comrade Justice Baako Ntarmah encouraged Migrant Workers who have already benefited from Ghanaian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration with its partners to be focused on their enterprises activities and money in banks in order to become business tycoons to establish big companies in future. “As international migrant workers and entrepreneurs, we understand well the challenges of migrant workers and potential migrant job seekers. I therefore pray expecting you to have passion in offering potential Migrant job seekers with decent work based if your companies are expanded in our quest or attempting to reducing Irregular Labour Migration”.

COVID-19 pandemic taught us lesson but let us rejoice and thank God as many of us benefited from GIZ GGC DSIK training programmes. Let us remember our continuous prayers for long span projects of GIZ GGC DSIK in Ghana, Africa and other continents”
