Post Trainee Teachers To Rural Areas As Part Of Internship Program – Gwira Banso Divisional Chief Proposes
The Divisional Chief of Gwira Banso in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western region, Nana Ette Akrade II has proposed to the government and the Ministry of Education to post teacher trainees in the Colleges of Education and universities to rural areas as part of their internship programs.
This, he said, would help the teachers put to use the knowledge and expertise as school children also get impacted through teaching and learning.
He asserts that pupils in the rural parts of the country are academically good but the lack of learning materials and logistics such as Information Technology (IT), furniture and science labs impedes teaching and learning.
“Most children in the rural areas are good at academic work but the lack of basic facilities obstruct teaching and learning,” He said.
He bemoaned that there is over crowding in the classrooms at the basic school, since there are inadequate staff especially teachers.
According to Divisional Chief Nana Ette Akrade II, poor road system, and poor telecommunication network force tutors to seek transfer from the school.
He thus, appealed to authorities to come to the aid of the school in the community.
