Public Advised To Adhere To Fire Safety Practices Ahead of Festive Season

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the Sekondi Sub Metro has cautioned the public to always adhere to safety practices as the Yuletide approaches.

The Operations Officer of the Service, ADO 1, Emmanuel Appri gave the caution on Spice 91.9 FM, said, negligence on fire safety measures could trigger a fire outbreak.

DO1 Appri stressed that while in celebration the public should watch out for their safety especially at home with the usage of electrical appliances, gas cylinders and amongst others

He, however, revealed that connecting electrical cables, especially extension cords under room carpet are dangerous as it loses the insulator which can cause danger.

Mr. Appri advised against the overloading of extension boards which could equally cause fire outbreaks.

He again admonished individuals and firms to get a fire extinguisher to help salvage fire outbreaks before the intervention of the service.
