Transport Fares To Go Down By 15.3% Percent Today

The 15.3 percent reduction in transport fares announced by road transport operators would take effect today, December 19, 2022.

The decision was arrived at following a recent reduction in the prices of petroleum products.

A statement jointly signed by the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, GPRTU and the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council, GRTCC said the adjustment would cover road transport operations such as shared taxis, intra-cities otherwise known as trotro, intercity long-distance, and haulage.

Already some long-distance transport operators such as VIP transport services have in a statement announced significant reductions in transport fares.

However, commuters in the Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolis says they look forward to the reduction in transport fares.

” I paid the old fare this morning, and according to the mate the GPRTU will come out with the new price list this afternoon or tomorrow. I hope they do so soon.”

” As for me, I was shy to ask whether the price has changed or not. I paid the old fare even though I heard in the news that there was going to be a reduction. I pray they reduce the prices just as they have said.”
