President Akuffo Addo has appealed to traders and transport operators to reduce the prices of goods and transport fares to reflect the recent appreciation of the cedi against the major foreign currencies.
This, he said, is not only a fair request but also one that will help Ghanaians enjoy a very pleasant Christmas.
” It is in view of this, I add my voice to those of GUTA, GRTCC, and others to appeal to manufacturers, traders, and transport operators with the height of the cedi’s recent appreciation and increased prices of goods and services to reduce their prices now, that the cedi is regaining much of its strength.
I believe this is not only a fair request but also a just one, and i urge all of you to join me in this clarion call to the very least, we can have a very pleasant Christmas. ” President Akuffo Addo said.
President Akuffo said, his government will bring further relief and return the economy to the path of high growth and prosperity.
He, therefore, appealed to Ghanaians to bear with government in these difficult times and assured them of better days ahead.
” With appropriate policy, determination, and hard work on our path, things are beginning to turn around. What seemed impossible yesterday is now becoming possible. We are definitely not yet out of the woods,” He added.
