 Bukom Banku

Former Light Heavyweight champion Braimah Issah Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, has been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stabbing a man.

According to prosecution, Bukom Banku together with some friends attacked others in Bukom on Friday, November 25 at about 5:30pm.

The complainant, Ishmael Neequaye, woke up from his sleep after hearing noise in the neighbourhood. He, consequently, elected himself to calm the tension.

However, prosecution said upon seeing the complainant, Bukom Banku broke a bottle and gave it to his son, Mustapha, to inflict wounds on Ishmael.

Mustapha complied and inflicted wounds in the abdomen of the complainant, who was immediately rushed to the Korle Teaching Hospital for medical care.

Efforts to arrest the boxer and his son proved futile until they were served with criminal summons.

The two pleaded not guilty but were denied bail by presiding judge Justice Adelaide Abui Keddey.

They were remanded to reappear on Monday, December 19.

A third accused, Prosper Quaye, 32, is on the run. He is said to have smashed a 32-inch television with a stone during the melee.
