Ghana Gas To Invest In Media To Improve Oil And Gas Reportage

The Public Relations Officer of Ghana Gas Company Limited, Atuabo, has assured the media in the Western Region that is it working around the clock to improve reportage in oil and gas sector by building capacity to ensure that journalists have firm grips of the subject for accurate reportage.

According to Ernest Owusu Bempa, it is on that basis that journalists can continue to publish accurate and insightful reportage into happenings within the oil and gas fields.

He added the move has been the long term plan of the company but due to the advent of COVID-19, the whole institution was thrown off gear hence could not fulfilled the promise.

Speaking on a sideline of a Media Soiree at the Best Western Pluzz Atlantic Hotel on Wednesday 7th December 2022, Mr. Enerst Owusu Bempa assured the media that this year, the organisation will do all it can to release funds to support journalists who will pursue courses in the area.

“We understand the oil industry is a new area and it is of that reason that Ghana Gas and GIJ is putting a course together to ensure that Journalist get educated in case of standard reportage in this area.

Ghana Gas as a reputatable institution is collaborating with GIJ to support Journalists who have interest in energy reporting and we are ready to support them”.

He also added that Ghana Gas will pay special visit to the various News departments in the region to access their special needs and provide the requisite support.

“In 2023, Ghana Gas plans to visit the various new rooms and media House to address some of the key problems within the Media Houses for a proper support to be given”.

Desmond Cudjoe, President of  Ghana Journalist Association, Western Region also appealed  to the Ghana Gas to support  journalists who will express interest in studying in the subject area.

He went ahead to show appreciation to the current leadership of the public relation department of Ghana Gas for improve relationship and partnership with local journalists instead of always bringing journalists from Accra.
