Elon Musk Converts Offices At Twitter Headquarters Into “Hotel” For Staff
From executing mass layoffs of employees at Twitter to giving the remaining employees an ultimatum to commit to working “long hours at high intensity” or receive “three months of severance,” if they did not support the vision for “Twitter 2.0”, the tech billionaire Elon Musk, after taking control of Twitter a few months back, does the unexpected again as he turns some offices at organization’s headquarters in San Francisco, California, into “hotel” rooms.
After images of Twitter office spaces being converted into bedrooms surfaced, authorities in San Francisco, USA, are apparently investigating a possible breach of the building code.
New Twitter CEO Elon Musk has been residing at the headquarters since he purchased the company, according to an ex-employee who made a report to the authorities.
In an email to Twitter staff last month,November, Musk wrote to employees that they would have to put in “long hours at high intensity.” He stated that “Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade,” implying that there might be more layoffs.
The San Francisco Department of Building Inspection announced on Wednesday, December 7, that it is looking into possible violations, in response to a complaint.
Musk replied that the city was criticizing businesses for giving beds to “tired employees”.
Musk stated in a now-deleted tweet that he would work and sleep in the workplace “until the org is fixed.”
The bedrooms, which were allegedly converted from conference rooms, are also said to be used to host employees from other Musk-owned companies, including Tesla, who’s employees have been brought in to work at Twitter and “some of whom travel to Twitter for work meetings.”
According to California State Senator, Scott Wiener, “He’s now making them sleep at Twitter”.
“It’s clear that he doesn’t really care about people. He doesn’t care about the people who work for him.”
An oficial from the department of building inspection remarked, “We need to make sure the building is being used as intended”.
In an attempt to throw journalists off the newly surfaced Twitter news content, Musk replied to a journalist on Twitter by posting that the protection of children from the effects of opioid drug abuse should be the city’s top priority.
