STMA NADMO Outline Plans To Demolish Dilapidated Buildings In The Metro
Following the collapse of a 2 -Storey Building at Asemensudo, a suburb in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, has charted a plan to get deplorable houses in the metro demolished.
This comes after the roofing of a 2- storey building caved in injuring some tenants of the building.
The incident which occurred on December 3, 2022, has claimed one life as 4 others have been hospitalized after sustaining injuries.
Commenting on the incident, the Metro Director for the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), James Obeng, has disclosed that dilapidated buildings dotted across the Metropolis will soon be demolished to avert damage to lives and properties.
Speaking to Spice 91.9 FM, the NADMO Director said such buildings pose a threat to lives and losses of property hence the Assembly is working around the clock to ensure such structures are demolished.
He explained that the Assembly will present a list of the owners of wrecked buildings to the court to be summoned.
He further advised dwellers in such buildings to vacate to protect their lives.
