Road Users Cautioned To Adhere To Road Safety Rules Ahead Of Festivity

Road crashes cause considerable economic loss to individuals, families, and nations as a whole. This is a major factor that is depreciating human and capital resources as lives and properties are lost during such incidents.

The Western Regional Director of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Nana Akua Ansaa Cobbina in a media engagement says the region from January to October this year recorded a total of 579 road crashes involving 1,041 vehicles.

According to the Director, 111 pedestrian knockdowns claimed the lives of 80 persons, adding that out of the total road crashes 480 injuries were recorded.

She attributes these crashes to overspeeding, poor road network, poor vehicle maintenance, and in some circumstances bad weather conditions.

Nana Akua Ansaa Cobinna said, stringent measures have been put in place to reduce the occurrence of road accidents.

She advised drivers and commuters to adhere to road safety rules and regulations to prevent road accidents.
