The 2022 Green Regional Job Fair has been launched today, November 22, 2022 at the Takoradi Mall.
The event is targeted at creating opportunities for job seekers to find the right employers and also to equip individuals with the requisite skills, knowledge, and mentorship to create jobs at the local level towards achieving the aim of the green project.
Speaking at the launch, the Project Manager of Green SNV Netherlands, Mr. Laouali Saada, said, the vision of the project is to provide support to the youth in job creation.
According to him, the Green Job Fair is one of the packages which is enrolled for the youth to create jobs and to expose youth to entrepreneurs ready to recruit.
As part of the launch, patrons had the chance to identify opportunities in the green economy, seek career guidance and counseling, get CVs checked, and connect with prospective employees.
Mrs. Gloria Bortele Noi, the Director of Policy Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation at the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, commended the organizers of the project for their sustained interest in the sector and their commitment to employment creation.
She notes “that the Ministry has collaborated with various partners to organise job fairs which have been instrumental in bringing together job seekers and potential employees to interact on the same platform.”
Madam Bortele Noi observes that the organisation of such fairs has complemented the government’s job creation efforts.
For his part, the Regional Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Joseph Garbrah encouraged the youth to avoid discriminating towards job acquisition since there are no available jobs. He nonetheless, urged young people to take advantage of the job fair and identify opportunities they could invest in to create jobs for themselves and others.
The Western Regional Minster, Kwabena Okyere Darko entreated participants to focus on building their business and not rely on government sector for employment.
He further called on individuals to cultivate the habit of integrity which can help them expand their businesses.
Mr. Okyere Darko Mensah assured patrons of supporting the local business in the region to flourish.
The Green Project is funded by the European Union in Ghana with support from the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ghana and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF).
