My Driver Never Bolted With Any Money Of Mine – W/R Minister Asserts
The Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah has debunked claims that his driver ever bolted with 17 million cedis proceeds from illegal mining activity.
According to him, the alleged incident never happened as reported in the media.
The Minister’s picture was used in a story that a Regional Minister has collapsed as a result of an alleged theft.
“It’s not true. My driver never bolted with any money of mine. No money of mine is missing. I have never sent anybody to go and collect monies from the galamsey site.
The people who did that on their media platforms knew what they were doing. They knew what they were doing was entirely wrong. Tarnishing my image for the wrong reasons?” Mr Darko Mensah said.
The report which was in circulation had the picture of the Minister attached to it.
The Minister issued these denials during the Information Ministry State of the Regions report held in Accra to update Ghanaians and the progress of work in the Western Region.
Speaking to the media, the Minister who doubles as the MP for Takoradi indicated that the move is an attempt by some persons to tarnish his image.
He accused the people of Tarkwa of being behind this plot especially some people in Dompim.
He also denied claims that the region is unsafe because of reported cases of kidnapping.
Mr. Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah insisted that Western Region is safe and peaceful.
” There was no kidnapping happening in Western Region. It was in the minds of people and they wanted to disgrace our city. All of them were fake even the last one,” He added.
