Committee To Probe Allegations Made By Minority To Censure Finance Minister Opened
The Ad hoc Committee set up to probe allegations made by the Minority in Parliament per their motions of censure against the Finance Minister started sitting, November 15, 2022.
The proceedings of the committee will be telecast live.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who is a member of the Committee disclosed this to the media.
According to Mr Ablakwa, the live telecast is to allow the committee to be transparent to the citizenry.
The Committee has 7 days to submit it’s report. Mr Ablawa revealed that the Finance Minister has been invited to the hearing.
“I can confirm to you that we have concluded all our meetings as a committee. We are going to have our first formal sitting. I ‘d like to announce to you that the hearing will be public, we are going to sit in the full glare of the public, there will be no attempt to shield or hide in camera. We will meet in camera,” He said.
Minority spokesperson on Finance Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson and Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu will be the first witnesses to appear before the Committee today.
Mr Ablawah said the committee is determined to work within the seven-day given by the Speaker.
Meanwhile, the NPP caucus in Parliament is still insistent that the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta must go.
This comes on the back of President Akuffo Addo terminating the appointment of Charles Adu Boahen, Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.
