Go Back To School – NLC Orders Teacher Unions
The National Labour Commission as part of measures to help resolve strike action taken by teachers called for a meeting with heads of the unions.
The invitation was after the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations sought the commission’s intervention in the strike, which is in protest of the appointment of Dr. Eric Nkansah as the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service.
Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Bright Wereko Brobby ahead of the meeting expressed optimism following the involvement of the NLC.
After the meeting the commission has advised the striking unions to suspend the strike and go back to school while they continue engagement in resolving the issue.
Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations Bright Wereko Brobbey said he’s optimistic teaching and learning will go on after their engagement.
The three unions are the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers, (CCT).
