Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and its Ivorian counterpart, le Conseil du Cafê CaCao have expressed concern over the reluctance of the cocoa industry to respect its public commitment to pay the Living Income Differential (LID).
It says, since the launch of the LID in 2019, and despite the support displayed by the Cocoa Industry, the price mechanism has not been made.
This development it notes is impeding the ambition of guaranteeing a sustained increase in farm gate prices of cocoa in Ghana and Cotē D’Ivoire.
In a statement, it said discussions have been initiated with major industry stakeholders with are yet to yield positive results.
It further says that the failure of industry players to heed to their demands by November 20 will result in suspending all sustainability programs and the prohibition of access to plantations by industry players to make crop forecast.
