CETAG, CENTSAG To Strike Over Welfare Concerns

Leadership of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) and the Colleges of Education Teaching Staff Association have expressed their displeasure at the way the government has handled issues affecting the welfare of their members in the 46 Colleges of Education over the years.

In a joint communique, the two bodies have given the employee five (5) working days to address their outstanding concerns.

The issues include the non-finalisation of CETAG’s condition of service negotiations which started on October 14 last year.

In a lateral determination of April 23 by the Fair and Wages Commission, is an effective date for placing first-degree holders of
CENTSAG is on the Single Spine Structure and is delayed by the Ministry of Education’s response to their requests for payment or compensation for all year-round work to both teaching and none teaching staff.

The two bodies say if their demands are not met by Friday, they will reactivate their indefinite strike which was suspended on January 24 and April 14 this year.

Already, 3 Teacher Unions are currently on industrial strike demanding governments for the payment of their 2020 fuel ex-pump allowances instead of the 2021 prices as well as the vehicle maintenance, and off-campus allowances.
